Xplorer 250 Help
#1
My wheeler is driving me nuts. I am trying to find out which jets I need to be able to a 32:1 fuel to oil ratio better. The jets seem to be plugging after every tank. I don't know anything about jet sizes. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome! 32-1 ratio is way too much oil!! Even our high performance, high compression, modified KTMs ran 36-1 ratio with a good synthetic oil. 40-1 premix is the most you need with good quality gas on the low compression 250. A lot of people I knew used a good synthetic and premixed 50-1(mainly because they were afraid of the auto injection oil pumps) which are generally reliable. Stock jetting on the 2000 Explorer 250 was a 130 main jet and 40 pilot (seal level to about 3000 ft) Plus make sure you mix the gas/oil mixture well in your fuel cans, don't just throw oil in the gas tank. Don't have the chart in front of me like I had on the wall at the shop showing jetting, but I'd say at least drop down from the 130 main jet to a 115-120 jet at that altitude,BUT best to contact a trusted shop in the area you ride to be more accurate on jetting requirements.Doesn't change the mixture ratio though,32-1 is too much oil!
