Default 2000 trailblazer no forward or reverse

Picked up a 2000 trailblazer for cheap motor runs great. With the side cover off you can see the clutches moving properly and when you give gas it puts the tension on the belt however In Forward or reverse it does nothing, if you put the chain back on it won't roll even in nuteral are these known for trans issues maybe a bent shift fork never owned a automatic so looking for ideas.

If it wont shift into gear with the engine off, then possibly you could have internal gear case problems. Check the obvious first. Check the front sprocket on the gear case(broken /rounded off teeth, splines on the sprocket ground down, just turning on the shaft. Make sure the linkage arm (belcrank) on the gear case is tight and not stripped. You can see if the shift lever while in neutral is centered on the shift slot and not caused by a linkage problem. You can also remove the linkage at the transmission and try a pair of vice grips to see if you can shift the gears. Could be it is in a bind and you can free the shift forks.
