Well I got the clutch off, turn the crank and still feel the grinding...onto the next thing. I'll pull the recoil if the magnets are good then I'm gonna start a complete teardown and rebuild.

the magnets weren't shattered...Is there a tolerance for main bearing play or should there be no play at all? The left hand side has a hair of play when I move the crank, right hand side seems to vary depending what position I turn the flywheel/crank but it does seem to move a good amount. Anyway I"ll update when I find out more.

There should be NO movement up and down, side to side on the crank shaft! Sounds like it's time for a tear down.

Yep I think so...I may start the tear down but wait until warmer weather to finish cause I would like to strip it down to the frame and sandblast it and repaint it.
