Default 2004 Sportsman 700 issues

Well, new to forum and I hope you guys can help me out. I have a 2004 sportsman 700, it fires up fine and runs great until it warms up then its like it goes into a limp mode, no power. It has good compression, the drive belt has great travel. new plugs, new gas. Now the radiator has been patched up by previous owner with jb weld. if the radiator isnt flowing coolant correctly could that be an issue for no power? thanks

Do you have the fuel injection or the carb model?? If you have the carb model, pop the front panel and see if you have the Ducati ignition or Kokusan. If it's a fuel injection model, could be a fuel pump issue.

Check to make sure if you have an ignition module that says Ducati. It does make a difference if it does. It would be a combo cdi/coil together. If you have a Kokusan ignition, you will have a separate cdi and coil.

That's probably why it's going into a limp mode. Look at all the posts on this forum and others, plus you can just Google up Sportsman 700 ignition problems. The Ducati system has been replaced with a Kokusan complete ignition kit #2202602. Comes with a new flywheel,stator,cdi,coil,reg/rectifier,jumper wires and instructions. Kit is about $450. Don't buy any new or used Ducati parts on Ebay or even from a dealer! Several places you can check on the best prices such as Cycle Parts Warehouse,Cheap Cycle Parts,Bike Bandit, etc. This was NOT a warranty item, but should have been! http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...43148975,d.b2I
