Default tying down atv in pick up bed

I just purchased a truck with a 5.5 foot bed, which means my polaris 500 dosen't fit in the bed anymore with the tailgate up. Where are some spots to hook the ratchet straps to on the ATV to tie it down so it won't fall out while driving. I was looking at running the straps from the hooks at the bottom of the truck bed across the ATV on front and back. And then ratcheting it from the rear frame of the atv to the two front hooks of the bed.
Any thoughts or pictures of what anybody else does would be great.
Thanks.

I have an Avalanche and we use a tailgate extender/gate across the bed just to be safe. You should be fine, just make sure that you have more than one point securing the ATV to the vehicle. Straps will move as the suspension of the ATV fluctuates with the bumps in the road. They can wear in areas that are touching the truck/ATV and break. It's happened to me on more than one occasion.

We couldn't keep enough of these and the regular Ancra pull straps in stock. Like mentioned if you can't shut the tailgate, get an extender for peace of mind. Ancra 1" Rat Pack - BikeBandit.com

There are good spots under the footwells. I've used them many times and never had a problems when I had a Sportsman X2. Also, the hitch is good for straps.

Just make sure you use ratchet tie down straps. I had one of the other kind fly off when I hit some bumps.

Run it through the hitch or across the rear rack. Put the parking brake on you should be good.

Bullydog makes a cool set-up. It goes from your receiver hitch, up around the tailgate, and into the wheeler's receiver. It's adjustable too so you can pick up the rear a bit so it doesn't stress the tailgate straps. Everything pins in place so your ride doesn't move/go anywhere while hauling.

The hitch hooks on the rear, and the factory hook on the front. Put in park, and set parking brake. Good to go!!
