Default Are Polaris 90s any good?

I've been looking for a kids quad and have come across some Predator, Sportsman and Outlaw 90 models for sale. My buddy just bought an 08 Outlaw 90 that seems pretty decent. But when I do searches on Polaris 90 I see a lot of horror stories about the 90's having problem with wiring, transmission, engine, etc. How reliable are these? I know pre 2006 they are 2 strokes. Are the 2 stroke models less reliable than the 4 stores. The issues I read about are mostly with the Predator model. But I've seen some reports of issues with Sportmans and I know my nephew had some sort of trouble with his Sportsman.

Problem with the 90cc class is Polaris does not make them, Polaris Outlaw 90 Youth ATV - Is it the Best?. Pretty mixed reviews from owners. Vehicle Reviews for 2008 Polaris Outlaw™ 90

There built in Taiwan by AEON to Polaris specs by the sounds of it.
That gives Polaris a way to offer a good quality Youth ATV at an affordable price - and with the backing of a major dealer network. Something missing from most Chinese ATVs.

Plenty of the little Polaris 2 strokes still running around, but the 4 strokes are more dependable. Most of the problems on the early ones were starting problems with electric chokes even with later models that had manual chokes. You had to block the air tube on cold mornings to get em cranked. After that they would start on their own. Didn't have that problem on the four strokes. Don't buy any cheaper off brand Chinese atv,(look at all the electrical problems on the Chinese posts)stay with ones such as Polaris,Kymco, etc that has a good dealer support and has a good inventory of parts. Most kids can destroy a steel ball with a rubber hammer as the saying goes!

My son has an 9 year old Chinese ATV. It runs well but the structure is getting tired. I looked a nearly new Chinese ATV yesterday and it struck me as being basically the same as what he has. I want something that rides better and will be less likely to have issues. But I have to say the Honda clone engine on the one we have is pretty darn good. Its the rest of the thing that feels cheap.

I'd like to find something for under $1600 that will run and ride well for 4-5 years. Looking at Yamahas too.

I have a 2010 and a 2011 Outlaw 90, and they have been totally hassle free, and very reliable. No issues with them at all and we motocross and trail ride with them.
