older models brake calipers sticking and wearing funny
I'm loving this board!!! I've got 4 older model Polaris's ranging from 1997-2002, Magnum, Sportsman, Scrambler, and a 6X6.
I have noticed on all of them that on the calipers where the outboard brake pad rides the "legs" are worn off at an angle causing the pads to wear at an angle and the brakes to not always grab as well as they should or sometimes drag.
Anyone else seen this? I'm guessing its from not keeping up on the adjustment. I've thought about trying to file the legs flat but am concerned they would be too weak. Is the only other option replacement?

Usually this is caused by sticking caliper pistons, sometimes rotors that may be warped a bit or even the old style master cylinders could have the pistons sticking causing excessive pad wear because of the pressure. If you need oem parts here's a cheap(cheaper than the dealers) online site.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
