99 sportsman 335 help?
#1
hi, looking for info and ideas on a 99 sportsman 335.
quad belongs to my father and has started to overheat,
the story was relayed to me by my father but it seems quad was borrowed and ridden by my brother and brother in law at a trail ride, they then brought quad home and power washed it, with the key off when they washed the fan area the taillight lit up as the fan was spinning.(no clue how that could happen)
later on my BiL told me that the temp light came on while they were riding and they brought it back to the trailer and loaded it up.
looking at fan motor assy. this things must be made of gold for the cost of them. and ideas if this is a bad fan motor or something else?
also looking for a cheap snowplow setup for this rig, dad is 76 and cant work the snow blower very well anymore.
not sure which machine id rather work on, his Polaris or my Arctic Cat. lol
thanks in advance. Bob

Pop the front panel off and dry all the connectors from the modules, especially #31 as it's the LR60 fan relay.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Use some electrical grease on all the connections. If the fan continues to cycle on possible the oil cooler thermistor sensor is shorted out causing the fan to run constantly.Iten #11.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Plus if the fan isn't working you can jump 12 volts directly to the fan motor and see if it works.

finally got time and weather to cooperate and got the garage cleaned out to get quad in there. cleaned connections, no joy. jumped fan and she runs real nice. jumped temp sensor and it runs the fan. cheapest I found that sensor was 80 bucks. I think ill jump it out and leave fan run. thanks for the help.

Just put a toggle switch on the fan and don't let it run constantly or the motor won't last. Plus as you've found out this type fan isn't cheap. Plus not much room on the 335,but you might try looking into a spal fan that you might try to rig up,or just bite the bullet and get the oil cooler sensor and be done with it.
