Are you pushing the reverse over ride button? If you are and it still cuts out could be a short in the over ride switch. Some have even bypassed the over ride button.
"Pre 2003 and almost all models that do NOT have the combined override/Speedo function button.
Trace wires from the override button (gray/white & gray/orange) Cut the gray/orange and tape up both ends. Cut the gray/white and tape up the end which goes to the override button. Connect the other end of the gray/white to the red/white (ignition supplied 12v)"

Had a lot of people come back to the shop because of this and also when atvs were dying because of excess throttle slack and wouldn't idle because of the throttle safety switch points touching.Like the old saying"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" "IF" it was mine I wouldn't jump the over ride if it is working ok on reverse power and the awd works properly, unless you're tired of having to do this, or if the over ride switch does begin to act up or has a short. Gotta look to the future too if you want to sell it one day. The less molested a machine is,all the features work properly as they should, probably a better chance/better price on resale. If you plan on keeping it forever then splice away..
