Default Trouble Removing Rear Drive Shaft Polaris Sportsman 700

Not having any luck removing the plunger side of rear drive shaft from gear case on a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700. I know there is a snap ring on the end of the drive shaft. Seen videos that show all you have to do is grab shaft and tug on it 3 or 4 times and it comes out. Not mine! Tried to wedge a screwdriver in between plunger and gear case and still can't get it to move. Any suggestions?

It's rusted. On my old 800 the cv-joint pulled apart from trying to get it out. Had to weld a slide hammer on what was left.
soaking it in Nutcracker for a few days may help. Would definitely work best if you layed the quad on it's side. So it can work it's way in there.

I have read the many other posts on this forum that others have also had the same problem. I have sprayed PB Blaster on it to soak. I don't have the resources to modify a slide hammer.

I tried pulling off the other side and no luck either. If I could just get one of the sides off I know then I can punch out the remaining drive shaft from the back side.

Why make a snap ring on this part, its not like it can go anywhere when fully assembled? With so many people having the same problem, you would think Polaris would have a different design, or tool to make removal possible. I've pulled so hard on drive shaft that my arms are going to pop out!

Got both of them! Lots of PB Blaster and a crow bar!

I recently done mines all it takes is pb blaster a big screw driver and a short crowbar, once you drive the screw driver on the top side remove it and turn in towards the bottom and come from under the bottom with your short crow bar and put it in the gap and pry against it , then drive the screw driver on the top side again and it will pop out , just before you put it back in coat the splines with grease. (Takes two people to do this) but this was easiest way I found to do it., and it has to have a snap ring because that inner joint rolls in and out when your suspension goes up and down and without that snap ring when the joint rolls out it will force the inner joint to come out the gearcase, the purpose of the snapring is to keep it locked in place
