I have a 2007 500 EFI and it can run fine for a couple of hours and then just die. It will start back up and may go one hundred yards and die or run for another couple of hours. I didn't get a manual with it and when I first start the machine the wrench sign comes up briefly on the display and then goes out. And since I don't have a manual yet I don't what that is telling me.
Any thoughts? Thanks

 

Sounds like it could either be a fuel pump or electrical related problem. Turn the key on and see if you hear the pump prime up. Best if you can hook a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail to see if it's holding 39 psi with no drop in pressure.If you eliminate the fuel pump as a problem,could be the old problem on tbap harness shorts. Plenty of posts on this plus look at the "sticky" post on efi problems in the expert section. Affects not only 700/800 atvs,but the 500 also. Polaris harness repair kits are junk,same thin wiring as the original, and one place has stronger ones available. Plus check the wiring from the sensors down into the harness to see if there are any bare or soft feeling wires that could be broken internally. Only The Best You can't rule out an ecm(pdm) module on this model also as it has caused problems in the past. Item #11.
