Sorry. I posted out of order. I didn't realize the bottom of my page wasn't the end of the thread. Please see my hypothesis up the thread aboot a 1/4 mile. Dated April 8th also.

Just for the record I DO like to get a litlle air. But I don't like pain and repair bills near as much as the guys in the videos! I like airing oot the sled a LOT better. The snow is sooo much more forgiving!

Hey Kevin and John, I'm still around. Just haven't been lurking the boards for a while. Seems like always the same issues.

Sorry about the tranny Kevin. Been there. But glad Greg took care of you.

As for riding, let me know, I'll go any time. Went down to KY last weekend, had a great time and met some great folks.

BTW, I'm still trying to trade my Scrambler for a 4x4 utility. Know anybody interested ? It has a new tranny too. LOL.

I have to admit also that the polaris design needs a lot of improvment, at least on my scrambler. I run the GNCC series, and last season I ran a stock 400ex with skid plates and aftermarket tires. Thats it. The entire season, actually I raced it 2 seasons I replaced NOTHING (except a bent tie rod from catching a tree). Honda makes the most reliable ATV's Period.

But where else was I to get a 400cc 2-stroke 4x4 machine for the utility unlimited class? The bike can beat ANY 4x4 in a drag race, and the 4x4 on-demand system works perfectly. I have had many problems with brakes, various bushings and broken welds. Each time somthing breaks I dont just fix it, I re-do it in a way that it will not break again.

2000 scrambler, with all the 2001 upgrades and some custom like DS650 rear braking system, 400ex front master cylinder, custom everything, HPD performance goodies....
2001 Ski-doo MXZ-800 =)))
83 honda ATC 110 (for fun)
2001 Suzuki king-quad (for plowing my driveway)
Honda Cub (forget the year!)
1999 Mustang GT - Vortech supercharged 400 HP
I could keep going but im getting tired of typing!

I have too many toys =)

i know where you are coming from! i had a 500 scr and it wasnt the quad i thought it would be!! as far as jumping 2.5 feet a "sport" should hold up. the scr is a descent quad but why do they make it have all that suspension when you cant jump it!! it is like a magnum without racks and low gear! all that travel is pointless. i just sold my 500 and it broke on the guy i sold it too!! my buddys sportsman had to have all the u joints and hubs replaced!! polaris makes a goodqwuad but i dont think they hold up like some of the others. i just got a 400 ex and i love it!

The latest ATV Sport magazine reviews Sidewinder performance sprockets and chains for Polaris Scramblers. The test included a lot of air on a MX track with no problems. The same issue also had an article on a Scrambler that broke an axle during a quad shootout. They got another Scrambler from Polaris and then tried to intentionally break another axle to determine if it was a design/manufacturing flaw. The test included lots of air on a frozen MX track with no problems. I would assume that the chain would have went if it was an inherently weak design.

hmm... I have a tranny tore apart on a 2000 xplorer as we speak. It has a busted tranny housing caused from a very loose chain, while flooring the beast after the chain broke. I watched as the mighty 400 knotted up the chain and broke the counter-sprocket teeth off, then finally busting the housing of the tranny. It will be some work to repair but we will get it back together. the sprocket side of the tranny (case) cost 175.00 . ride'em hard polcat

I'm sorry you feel that way, I hope your new ATV is all you hope it to be. All I know is that my Polaris is the best thing since sliced bread.
