As far as the 12v. compressor goes how does it hook up? Does it just hook up directly to the bat. or do you have to buy a kit to install a 12v. acessory adapter?

The 12V compressors work great!

I bought one of those "clamp on" 12V accessory plugs that clips right on to the battery. Plug the compressor in and your ready to go in about 30 - 40 seconds.

I paid $7.99 Canadian (About $1.50 USD) for mine. Works great!

Here's another little trick I've used to seat the bead on an ATV tire with a bicycle pump. Not having a ratchet strap handy, I tied a piece of rope around the centreline of the tire in a loop. I poked a stick through under the rope and twisted it up like a tourniquette. With enough twisting and a little jiggling of the tire I was able to get the bead tight enough to hold air and seat with the hand pump.

The Sportsman has a 12V outlet on the headlight POD, or as Joem pointed out, look for one that has clamps that go directly to the battery.

Joem,

Good one on the exchange rate!!!! It isn't quite that bad, but it sure seems like it sometimes.

peej and farmer, you both make a VERY convincing argument against my hose idea, and considering that, I will abandon the idea all together ad run up to Canada and get a compressor who can pass up that xchange rate!LOL I geuss I never even thought about the duty cycle of the starter. Thank you both for saving me the cost of a starter and the pain in the a$$ of replacing it.
