Default 2005 800 sportsman

Opened speedo pod found 9-volt battery plug put in a battery and would not start. Took out battery and then it starts sounded like the fuel wasn't turning on with battery in can somebody help.

The 9 volt battery harness in the pod along with the connector with the purple end cap located under the front panel are used for hooking up to Polaris Digital Wrench for diagnostic checks,reflashing only.Not for customer use.. Just tuck it back into the pod.

Thanks OPT is that a dealer only check diagnostic port well I'm at it what would make the tach not work thanks ahead of time

On the 16 pin connector on the speedo, pin 7(red/white) is the rpm signal sent from the stator/ecm to the speedo. Check the harness pins for any any pulling out of the pins or wiring shorts. Possible gauge may be faulty on the rpm section,but you can try to rule out any wiring problem. If you don't have a manual,here's a cheap one for 5 bucks with speedo checks along with a detailed wiring schematic. 2005 Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI Service Manual PDF Download

Noticed the tach comes on then winds down t 0-rpm then stops any thoughts thanks
