Default 96 trailblazer

I can't keep it in forward gear. I opened up gearcase can't see anything wrong it acts like it's not going in far enough. I adjusted the linkage no help. Can some one help me out thanx.

Look close at the shift forks for wear plus the engagement dogs on the slider gear that engages the dogs on the forward gear.If they are shiny,worn down on the edges,then they need to be replaced.May be what's causing it to kick out of gear,plus simple things like bent,distorted circlips can cause problems along with small needle bearing wear.Plus the silent chain always needs to be replaced regardless.Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

I replaced chain I will take it back apart and look at the things u mentioned. Thanks for your help

No sorry the forward gear is worn on the edges I'm hopping that is my problem.

Replace it and the slider gear that engages it also.

Couldn't afford both this week but the gear is ordered I'll get the other one next week. Thanx for all your help

Understand completely! These gears aren't cheap,but hope this solves the problem and you get a lot more years on your machine.
