Default Sportsman 400 info, 2004

I have a 2002 sportsman 500 and I know that they run the liberty engine.
Curious if the 400 is the same and are the 400s a good engine?
there is a 2004 for sale near by and I would like some pros and cons between the 400 and 500.
Thanks guys

Nope, still the Fuji engine as well as the 400. Good engines, good track record as far as longevity and many like yours and older still running around. Here's a comparison chart between the 400 and 500. 2004 Polaris Sportsman 400 ATVs

They seem like the same minus the EBS. and missing 74cc lol.
Guy is asking 2700 and needs some U joints. Little cosmetic damage.. Wonder if its a good deal!

The guy's asking top dollar. Just depends on condition, condition, condition. See if he can split the difference between trade in and retail. That's how a lot of people do.If he wont budge and don't like his price walk away. Plenty more out there.Kelley Blue Book

Another ? I pulled the clutchs on the 500... someone has been there!!!! Primary spring is orange with a 4.25" free length and the secondary is white with yellow stripe..
Probably explains why I have to rev the snot out of it to get moving...
Hits the rev limiter in reverse just to get it moving.
both clutches were clean and in good shape.
Thinking of going with the EPI kit.. Is that a good choice?

All depends on tires you're running, riding style, etc. May or may not be happy with another kit,may even want to go back to the stock springs.

For that amount of money around here, you can get a 500 in good shape. Then you both have the same machine and then all the parts you buy will work on both machines.
