hey opt i always got one more question for ya lol my sprocket hub has play up and down hoping its not my axle splines would it more likely be the hub splines ? also can i just weld it to the axle and still be able to get the axle off for seal changes and stuff ? dose the axle come off both ways ?

 

Talk about a project atv,you've got one.. Look close,it may be the bearings and races in the housing that are causing the up and down play and may need to be replaced. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse If it is the sprocket,just replace it. Don't weld it to an axle. ya i wasent looking for a project but i got one lol... i live in canada so the hubs on ebay you see for 30 bucks are really like 80 bucks for me and the shipping is another 30 im not really looking to spend that much just looking to weld it on if it would still be possible to take axle off and change carrier berrings and stuff with a welded sprocket hub im totally strapped for cash at this point so now im just trying to do some cheap fiixes to get me going...its not the bearring that are messed hup tho axle is pretty solid it dosent move at all

 

its not the sprocket its the sprocket hub that moves on the axle up and down like as if the splines are stripped

 

Hubs are a lot weaker than the hardened splines of the axle. A new one is over 60 bucks down here. I'd keep a watch out for a used one,but even with those you'd be taking a chance.1520258 Polaris | eBay Problem is if you tack weld it don't know if you can get it to where it won't wobble up and down if it isn't riding perfectly true on the axle splines,plus welds may interfere with the being able to tighten the axle nut properly. Choice is up to you as yes the axle pulls out from the right (sprocket side) if you ever have to replace the housing bearings.

 

ok thanks yes i know welding it on is probly the dumbest thing to do but at this point im not to worried about it right now ... so let me get this straight i can take the axle out from the right side by taking off left rear tire and hub and disc break ?

hey OPT i have been looking on the internet for info but cant find it also no manual at the moment ..... can you tell me what type of engine oil tranny oil and spark plug my atv uses ... ? and how much oils i need for each ... its a 2000 scrambler 500 ... thanks in advance if your not sure its ok thanks anyway though

 

I'm sure what the manual calls for,but what other people use is a different story.. 2 quarts 0w40,5w40,5w50 are the main oils that most people use.Your choice as long as it's synthetic. BKR6E on the plug,Polaris Agl for the gear case(bottom of fill plug or has a dipstick) and Polaris Demand Drive Plus for the hubs.Fill and drain excess at 4 o'clock position. These three I'd stay with.
