Default Maxxis Bighorns and upsizing front tires

2005 Polaris 500 HO camo edition.Stock size on this edition are 26/8/12 front and 26/11/12 rear I keep getting junk in the bead on my fronts with 7 PSI I have had 3 flats I'm thinking due to the bead area hanging way out on the narrow tires.Would it be possible to upsize my fronts to 26/9/12 to cover the bead area with tire better.what would be the downsides beside possibly more sluggish handling on fast tight trails.I can get a good dealon a set of new Maxxis bighorns which I understand are comparable or better than the stock PXT'S

Do you have a bent wheel? 7psi is definitely not underinflated for sure. Seems odd you would get junk in your bead at that pressure unless you have a bent wheel.

no bent rims and I kept checking PSI.The bead of the rim really hangs out like those little ricer cars you see running around.Any thoughts on moving up a tire size or going to another brand tire that has more protection around the bead of the rim?

I'm thinking your aftermarket rims must be pretty wide to have that issue. Going with a wider tire should help and the tires with bead protection are a nice added feature. Stock tires suck anyway unless you're only doing flat trail/grade riding.

the bead on the rears is completly protected by the tire.I'm doing alot of rutted woods riding lots of root, rocks, hills and some medium mud.Supposed to go check the tires out tonite but gotta be sure they fit especially on the front ,did find out they are the Bighorn 2.0.Might be a good idea to take the bike with me and actually try one of the fronts on.Unfortunatly would have to dismount one of my tires to do so since he has them on incorrect rims for Polaris
