chainguard on 400 explorer?

it rattles and drives me crazy.my chain is tight and i tried to tighten the guard but no help.can i remove it with no troubles?

Don't remove it unless you are going to put a chain tensioner on it! HPD just happens to make one for both the concentric drive models and the older non concentric drive machines.
