Quadnut, have you had any problems with your RAM mount coming loose?

I have not had ANY problems with the RAM Mount. If you are concerned about vibration, I would not worry to much, The Ram Mount uses rubber on the Mounts so there is little risk of loosening. The mount parts can be purchased seperatly, so if you wanted to use your GPS on several different cars, bikes, quads, or boats, all you need to do is buy the mount BASE for each of your applications (they are not that expensive).

Another note... The RAM mount has been tested to something like 5g's... it won't fall off, or break when put under extreme conditions.

Just my opinion. Use what works best for you!

KISSOFDEATH

mount has never come loose...did have to epoxy the plastic wingnut back onto set screw as I over tightened it.

don't know if it will work on an Etrex...I used the GPS III dashmount which has mounting holes to bolt up to the SlipStreamer base.

If you want vibration dampening, a strong aluminum mount with antenna support, THIS is the best. Works with a Ram mount. This unit is a little pricey, but when you see it, you will appreciate the engineering.

Spend the $29.99 for the Ram-Mount. Its alot cheaper than replacing the GPS when the bumps get big and the thing falls off and get crushed by your riding buddy following behind on a HONDA.

No, really I have the ram-mount and couldnt be happier. Like someone mentioned, you can just purchase the base of choice for any application and move it from vehicle to vehicle. That too is worth the savings. Good luck with whatever you decide!!
