Default 2003 Sportsman 700 Front Axle U-joint

I have my 700 pulled apart to replace the ball joints, wheel hub bearings, and to get new boots on both axles. My yokes are stuck in the differential. Has anyone tried removing the u-joint and replacing them while still in the yoke? I have the hub strut assemblies removed and I need to get the axles to a rebuilder in my area, but I can't for the life of me get them out of the front diff.If I can do the u-joints while the yoke stays in the diff I can drop the axles off and use new u-joints when I put them back in.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hard to change joints while still in the diff. You really need a press or a good support to drive the caps down to be able to remove the clips.Air hammer is another way,but you just end up messing things up on installing new ones. Use PB Blaster, heat and rent a big slide hammer from a local auto store. Then it's easy to work on the u-joints on a work bench or you can use a press.

My buddy let me borrow a very large slide hammer. Worked like a charm! Five hits on one axle, maybe ten on the other. Had both out within ten minutes.
Thanks!

We had 3 different sizes at the shop including this big Snap on 12 pounder. Bertha would either pull things out or destroy them in the process Plus had every adapter that you would need.

That’s what he loaned me. I was guessing 15 pounds or so but it looks just like the one you posted. Sure was handy!

The rebuilder could not get one of the cv joints apart, so I ordered two new front axles from Sixity. They seem to have a decent reputation, and the price was right. They should be here tomorrow, and I should have it all back together in the next few days. It'll have new hubstrut wheel bearings, new ball joints, new brakes, and new axles. Should drive like a new one.

I've seen Sixity drive shafts for a couple years now and they seem to be reasonably priced versus a lot of them.Sixity ATV/UTV Axles for Polaris, Yamaha, Arctic Cat | Sixity.com

Got it all back together tonight. Drives like a new one. Used Sixity axles, EPI balljoints, and Pivot Works hub bearings. Also replaced a tie rod outer boot, which was a pain in the rear to get on. I'm very happy with the quality of parts and the end result. This site has helped me a lot.
Thanks

I love it when a plan comes together.
