AC500 AUTO vs. SP500
#363
Here's 360 for anyone keeping count and not wanting to back out to see how many are on here. Any of you guys that are keeping this thing alive have 26" or 27" tires on your quads? I'm wanting to get some before spring, but I don't really want to drop cash on wheels. I can fit the narrower fronts on my stock 6.5" wheels, but I don't think putting 12" on the rear 6.5" is a good idea even if it would work. What size do you normally use? 7" ITP steel? I think if I get serious, I will hit up the Arctic cat place to try and find some stock 98 454 rear wheels. They were 8.5" wide. Why they dropped them down to 6.5" for the 99 500 which had bigger and wider tires is beyond me, but if I can get ahold of a pair of those, I will just use the stock front wheels and not have to spend that other $90. I'm torn between Vamps and Claws right now. I even thought of going with a combination of front and rear, but I don't know If I want the ride that the Vamps are supposed to have. They do have a biting type of traction with that pointy tread pattern though. Does anyone know how big a difference there is in ride comfort and turning between the 2 in 27"? The traction isn't a factor, because both are great and I seldom go in places that I could tell a difference between those two. I actually ride more in rocks and stuff than in mud.
