Default 2007 sportsman 500 efi starting issue

Ok guys/gals I did do a search and didn't seem to find this issue yet so here goes...
My 2007 sportsman 500 efi will no longer start using the key. when I turn the key to the on position the gauges lite up and the fuel pump turns on. However when I turn the key further to use the starter I get nothing and at the same time all my gauges turn Off.. So what I have had to do is only turn the key to the run position and then use the pull start to get the quad running and it will run fine. My real concern would be why do the gauges turn off when I try to start it using the key or is it something as simple as the starter solenoid or starter itself. I have checked the battery and tried a second battery so I know that's not the issue.I did pull off all the plastics last night to do a through cleaning and start checking all my connections this evening when I get home so any advise people can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Ohh and the whole time it is running the speedo is flashing and the battery light is lit...

Thank you
wolfjon

So far i was able to test the battery which is showing 12.5 volts and the bypassing the solenoid the quad started right up. I have a new solenoid showing up this weekend since that seems to be the issue with starting.
Onto the second issue the battery light is still flashing so I went into the Diagnostic mode on the speedometer and it was only showing 3.4 volts even though my battery is at 12.5.. While running the battery lead were showing close to 15v and the Speedometer was still only showing high 3's so the next question would be is this a gauge issue, rectifier issue, or possibly ECM? I little history the gauges were broken and had gotten really wet at one point and i had to make a new plexiglass cover for them and dried them out by a wood burning stove for a week or two.

New update the solenoid came in and solved the starting issue. I cleaned all the contacts and grounds near the battery swapped out the solenoid and it fired right up.

Now onto the voltage issue. Even after taking it for a short ride the dash is showing 3.4V with the quad off and 4V with the qua on. Anybody have some suggestions on whats next on the list to figure this parts out?

Unplug the connector to the speedo and check all male and female contacts in the connection--they should at least be very dry.The least bit of corrosion can cause your problem along with a faulty connection.
