I am interested in getting new tires for the 1999 Sportsman 500. I find now with the 8" wide front tires that I tend to dig into the mud which is good most of the time. Sometimes it digs in and gets stuck.

Would it be better to have a 12" wide tire on the front to provide better flotation? Or are they too hard to steer with and push the mud getting you stuck?

80% of my riding is on the muddy bush road with the rest being on gravel roads.

If I where you I would go with the 10". Just for the fact of the eaier steering effort. And their is only a few times when i good 10" tire wont do what you want. I know On my ac500 which came with the 10" stock and it does great for mudding. It will be harder stearing. BUt when your in a thick mucky swamp you wouldnt trade them for the world. I would recommend going 12" on the rears thought.Just my opinion
