I have a 97 scrambler 500 with about 50 hours on it .The problem I have is that when I accelerate it feels like I am in low range. The engine revs up like I put it in first gear and I can't go over 20 mph. Also when I let off the gas it feels like I have EBS only much stronger until I slow down to about 5 mph. Then the belt seems to release like it should of but at a higher speed. Has anybody experienced anything like this before or know what is wrong.

I had something like that and the bike felt boggy also. It was the spring in the driven clutch it had jumped out of the preload holes. You should not need any special tools other than a good snapring tool to repair it. It is pretty simple to do but can be confusing the first time you put it back together and you will need two people to do it.
