Hi Everyone here at the Polaris Forum, I'm new, I just traded in a 4 month old Foreman 450 S For a new Yellow Sportsman 400. I don't want to slam Honda too hard (the wife still rides a Rancher) but I think lots of decisions to buy a Honda as was mine are based on their reputation and not because of features and quality which where I found they came up short. So here I am to give Polaris a try, I'm very happy with my 6 year old Polaris Indy Trail snowmobile and am hoping this will be a similar experience.Happy Riding!!

Congradulations, you'll realy love the suspension compared to the Honda.
Have fun!

Just currious what didn't you all like on the Foreman 450 S? Did it do well in deep mud?

I know you were asking plunker why he got rid of his 450s,but I had one too and got rid of it and got an HO.The reasons I traded mine was 1.hated to shift when knee deep in mud 2.could not start it in gear when it died in deep mud and you cant get it in neutral this is a pain 3.the ride is bad even compared to my 96 400sp(which was my 1st 4wheeler,the 450s was second).4.not enough power to turn my tri/bi claw tires when it was real thick mud it would bog the motor down, but the same tires on my HO and none of the same problems.I will give one positive,it would float in some of the holes when I got stuck and my HO doesn't.Sorry but I'm just nuts about polaris

The main reasons I got rid of the Foreman besides a few quality issues is that I found that the gearing was way to close leaving me always shifting for a gear that wasn't there. The suspension would do weird things to your back after a full day of riding. The motor made a lot of unsettling noise at higher RPMs, just wasn't the right bike for me and trying to follow my Buds on there Sportsman was basically impossible.

I have 200 miles on my new 2001 400 Sportsman and all I can say is it kicks a$$. I really like the smooth ride or as smooth as one can get when riding off road. The power is smooth and has plenty for the hills as well. In low it really has power. I have no complants except the brakes squeel a little but that is it.
