I took my black box apart today after talking to the dealer about it sticking. He said he never heard the of the part being recalled and will check with polaris in a week or so, he must be a little busy. Anyway he recommended cleaning it, so I did. If dirt can get inside of these boxes I dont know how, they are sealed up quite well. When I did manage to get it open it was very clean inside. But what I did see was a vast array of PLASTIC gears powered by a small electric motor. From what I could figure one of these gears has a bad spot that sticks once in a while. Why such a complicated mechanism to do a simple duty? All the box does is simply push the reverse lever back to allow the tranny to engauge in rev. The lever is spring loaded and pushed the "stem" on the black box back after you let go of the yellow button. Gee, isnt that what solonoids do??
Hey DJ425, did you ever check with your dealer on your box?
