Reverse over ride problems WTF?
#1
Yesterday when I needed to use my reverse over ride to back out of some thick mud I was stuck in, it didn't work! I was pissed cause I had to walk home 2 miles to get my hand winch(that I didn't bother to pack with me). All I had to do was back up and very simply turn around, but it would only back up like 2 feet because it couldn't make it up the LITTLE hill behind me(because of the speed limiter). When I got back home covered in mud from working in over knee deep thick crap, I went to back it up into my garage and found out that the over ride was working! WTF! I was and still am pissed. SOOO, after I winched it out (could only do it from the front) I found out the welds on my DG bumper are cracked and the bumper looks all f*cked up. I was just wondering what could have caused the over ride button to work, then not(when I needed it to),then work again???

I would guess either a loose wire or some gunk in the button, but these are just guesses. There is a guy here on the forum who has a website with directions on how to override the reverse. Snowride was his name (there are others as well, but he is the only one I can think of right now). He by-passed the button to always have full power in reverse. Just keep in mind the it may back up too fast for kids or newbies, though. His directions were concice, and easy to follow. If you can't find him, I THINK (but am not positive) Lurch has a link on his website to someone who has instructions how to do it as well.

I had an electrical problem myself that seem to occur everytime I found myself knee deep in mud. Thought I had a bad electo-magnetic coil in the right front hub. Any time any type of load was placed on the right front wheel it would stop it from spinning and trust me, one wheel not spinning makes all the difference in the world. Anyway, after spending hours rotating the roller-cage assemblies inside of the hubs which made no change I determined it must be the coil($50), before swapping out the coil I checked the connectors behind the hood only to find 1 of the 2 male prongs inside the connector was covered with some type of black gunk. A little WD-40 and a Q-tip and I was back in business with $50 in my pocket again. The connectors have never been in the mud so this must have come from the factory this way which was causing a weak enough electrical signal to work but cause the magnetic coil not to engage fully when in demand.
Bla bla bla, not the same problem but definately check your wiring first before taking it to a shop for a month.
