Thor, The air adjustment screw you were talking about, That makes it run leaner when you adjust it, which in turn gives you a little more HP. But as the old saying goes Leaner is meaner but it won't last near as long if you plan on keeping it for a long time.

Bosty22:

Not necessarily, One needs to know when to say when. Theoretically, a rich running engine will last longer than a lean running one, and one that injects more oil theoretically will last longer, not to mention synthetic oil verses conventional dino juice. (That's the way I run my chainsaw and weed eater.)

Isn't the reason that we buy two strokes for performance? I am not familiar with any Polaris ATV 2 stroke engine seizures but I am sure that they exist somewhere. I do know that they exist in the snowmobile realm.

For some good reading on snowmobiles try the newsgroup. rec.sport.snowmobile. Every day there is a report on another snowmobiler who has melted down his snowmobile by leaning out the jets too far. Some of those fellows also try and lean out the oil injection systems in search of more performance.

"Remember your two stroke motor always puts out the most power right before it burns down."
