My SP335 will do 45 top end, My SP500 2000 will easily do 55 if your eyes dont bug out first. As far as everyone comparing the diff locks, why bother. The Sportsmen are true 4wd when engaged so if the others have a diff lock whats to compare? they are both pulling all 4. I ride with several friends who bought yamaha big bears, the sportsman models willl easily outclimb any of them, because they dont have a diff lock so any slippage of 1 front tire usually brings them to a hault, especially any wet or slick areas. So if its traction its either buy something like the sportsman than has a true 4wd, or spend an extra 200 bucks on a set of locking gears for the front of another machine.

I knew it. Even with the weight the 335 will hit 45. What a brain buster. Your 500 will hit 55 easily? My 454 will hit around 58 on flat pavement. Downhill has never been attempted.(because there are no downhill straight paved areas around here). If you don't have the diff lock as the suzuki does or the true 4wd like the Polaris then get a winch. I don't have a locker, but I do have a winch. Gets the job done, just a little slower going. So far there hasn't been anything I couldn't climb so I have only had to use my winch once.(not a big time mudder)

My 335 will just about hit 50, but not quite. It takes a looooong, straight road to get close though.The Sportsmen are the best large 4x4 hill climbers I've seen.Put it in low AWD and give it the throttle.How long is your Quad Big Cat? It seems long to me, it must be a good hill climber. Oh yea, the Suzuki isn't quite as fast as my 335.

Bill- I don't think it's on steroids. My 454 will even outrun Andy's 500. We have decided that it is the tire sizes. The funny thing is is I started hitting 58 the second week I had it.
Bush- My 454 is 80.5" long. It is a descent hill climber. I havent found much it cant climb. Anything that looks too bad and there isn't anything to get a good winch on. I really don't mess with. It hasnt tried to come over but a couple of times when I was making a trail up a hill.

When you speak of the LT4wd Suzuki's ability to climb sand,I sure hope your not talking about how great it is on a steep sandy hill.I've had a 87 KQ and my bro rides a 97 KQ.The KQs are indeed very poor [sandy] hill climbers when compared to alot of other 4wd quads.They simple do not have enough engine to generate enough ''WHEEL SPEED' to conquer steep sandy hills.They seem to get so far up the hill and the wheels just dig and spin.I've been with a 99 KQ that also had the same problems.The KQ is a nice little quad in it's own ways,as are all of them.====BILL

Come on Bill you know the Max is the best sandy hill climber. That is exactly what Max would say and Max never lies. I would go for a Scrambler 500 4wd if all you are going to do is sand and trail. I have never ridden a Scrambler but have heard a lot about them from watching some of the Scrambler owners posts and it seems to me that might be the bike you ought to check out. I'm not saying it's the one you should get. I mean you should look into it.
