I own a 2000 SC500 It has about 60 hours on it. I ride moderately hard but maintenance my machine more then average meaning I take really good care of it.

I bought the machine about 5-6 months ago and have put about 45 of the 60 hours on it. When I bought it I doubted the previous owner even put 15 hours on it as he stated. I went over it well and it seemed to be near mint. I sold my banshee to buy the SC because of the 4x4 and that fact that I do mostly trail riding.

The Scramblers really are in their own class and nobody else makes a machine like it for what I like to do. I am extremely happy with its performance but I am starting to get concerned with the reliability.

My latest problem is that I have a slow leak of gear case (Trans) oil and I do not have any cracks. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and could tell me how big of a job this will be to reseal the outer case.

So far I have had to replace bent control arm shafts, control arm bushings with HPD bushings, the steering stem bushing with Ritter Racing’s bushing, and will be soon replacing the swing arm bushings (There is very slight movement). I have also had to tighten the wheel bearing on the left side once when I noticed the wheel was very loose. I also had to upgrade the PVT snorkel to the 2001 models to keep water from spraying in there. Like I said I ride moderately hard meaning I jump maybe 1 - 2 foot once in a while, I open the thing up down the trails, and do moderate hill climbs. Some of the trails are rutted from trucks. I am getting concerned that this machine either is problematic or Scramblers just aren't designed for this kind of riding. I would appreciate sound feedback from experience. Please do not bash Polaris if you don't have a reason too. I have had all the brands in my lifetime and have had problematic ones and some really sound ones.

I've had problems with my scrambler leaking tranny oil. The tranny case warps and then starts to leak. But that can't be your problem because POLARIS insists I'm the only person who ever had this problem. This happened to me under warranty so they did fix it (3 times). You would have to remove and disassemble the tranny to check the case tolerances for being warped. Then you could do what POLARIS did, gob lots and lots of sealant inbetween the cases to stop the leak.

good luck
