Warn Winch Recall!!
#1
I've contacted 3 different Polaris dealers to order a winch...all say they don't have any & can't get any because of the recall. Warn's web site only refers to the recall on the 2000#. I need the 2500# winch. Anybody know of a source?

subfan Thanks for the info. I called atv parts depot and they have the winch but do not have the brackets to mount it on a 500HO RSE. The guy told me that the only place he knew of to get the brackets is from a Polaris dealer. Where did you get your brackets? In the meantime I'll call my dealer to see if they will just sell me the bracket.

Well bigdawg, be prepared for an adventure. I bought the winch from atvpartsdepot and the bracket from my Polaris dealer. The bracket is in a Warn box. Incuded in the bracket should be directions on a winch motor rotation procedure. I didnt get any instructions. I called Warn and they walked me through it. It is a tight fit...I put the outlet for the remote in the left side composite rack, facing the rider. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Well subfan I like these kind of adventures about as much as I like plumbing. I contacted an area dealer and he said he had the brackets sooo I'm going to try to get by there this weekend. Where did you mount the solenoid? Also, do you like the grip heaters and how good do they work? Thanks for your help!

I ordered a warn 2500 winch from rockymountain atv. When it didn't arrive in 2 weeks, I called up rockymountain to see what was going on. They said that the winches were recalled and they should be getting the new winches in today (7/13). She said something about a possible fire in the electrical. I'm not sure if it is the same problem that the 2000 winches had with the solenoid.

The solenoid went on the inside of the rear tube bumper by the taillight. The grip heaters are good. They seem like they draw alot from the electrical system. If you put them on, your hands will never be cold again, they crank out the heat. Use an air compressor to take the grips off and put them back on.

bigdawg you might want to try this set up. I mounted my solenoid on top of my upper radiator support. That keeps it from getting covered in slop. The plug for the remote I mounted on the right hand side of the headlight pod exactly opposite of the 12 volt outlet.
