Xplorer 400 bogging when in deep mud holes
#12
MEANGREENMACHINE,
I can ease into the mudhold in low, and start off once I get into it, and once the rpms come up and the wheels get to spinning, that is when it does it. I have filled the spark plug boot with dielectric grease before, but will do it again with more than before. Maybe I need to take the wire out of the back of the boot and fill that with dielectric grease and put it back in. That may make it slip out more easily. I could silicone that part though. All of my vents are routed into the steering stem except my front diff. I bought the expandible acordian-style boot from an Arctic Cat dealership to put on that. It makes it a closed system. So far, I've been pleased with that setup. I've run it like that over a year with no problems. As far as this bogging problem, I have no idea of what to do next. Do you have stock exhaust or aftermarket? Mine is stock. The bike never loads up under any other conditions.

Walexa, I am running hpd exhaust and a msa spark arrestor. I fill my boot completely full of grease and put it on over the plug. It completely seals out the water. I had to pinch the top of the boot with a pair of pliers to make it nice and tight. If that doesn't work then you have something electrical getting wet and making it bog out.
