Has any one used this on a scrambler 400 and how did it perform.

I have it. I threw the airbox away, put the k&n on, put an outwears on.
I have no regrets.

It works good until it gets wet and causes scratches on your piston. I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone who occasionally rides in a little water, I think its better suited for riding in the sand.

I think there are two different grades of outwear. One is more water resistant than the other. Also when they start to wear, they can loose some of this resistance. Like Ron said, they work great, just use a little caution in blasting into water holes.

KT P.S. Don't buy the K&N cleaner, just the oil. The cleaner is the same as 409. Keep a gallon ice cream pail with the lid. Keep your 409 in there for multiple uses.

500duse, the K&N filtercharger replaces the airbox with only a filter and outerwear leaving it pretty much unprotected. As long as you leave your airbox on, a K&N should never give you any trouble.

go for it (no airbox),you'll have great torque gains and response all the way,but if you have a 42mm carb,DON'T do it cauze there will be too much air to the crank and not reliable at all...
be sure the make the proper jetting changes by checking spark plug color all the way to the top.enjoy!
