Just bought my '02 Sportsman. I have all of 40 miles total on it and it's stalling out while coming to a stop to talk with other guys. I noticed it the first day out but thought it may be just a break-in period. Any ideas on what to do.

Other than that, this bike is unbeleivable. Also, any idea on the top speed for the 500 H.O. ?????? Thanks in advance.

My dads 00 Mag 500 did that. We just idled it up a hair and that fixed it. The idle screw is on the side of the carb.

If adjusting idle up doesn't help try adjusting the throttle cable, you may have to much slack in it.About midway down the handle bars(in throttle cable) is a place to adjust it. Leave engine running, roll rubber cover back and adjust slack out of cable. You are suppose to have just a little slack in your thumb throttle control, can't remember how much but your owners manual should tell you, it has full instructions on how to do this simple operation.Seems like they always leave the lock nut loose on the cable adjustment and it gets to much slack in cable.I had same problem with mine when new and have seen numerous post with other people having the same problem.Hope this solves your problem. I have had my speedo a little over 60 but I think the real speed is about 56mph maybe 58mph.

check the slack in the thrott. cable this is likley the problem you should have about 1/8 inch of free play in your thumb throttle also as it breaks in you will most likley have to idle it up a little bit.

How do you like your Mudrunner tires?

Are they a good ride or rougher than stockers?
