Twist Throttle
#1
Has anyone ever put a twist throttle on a 2000 Sportsman 500. I put one on a Moto 350 and really liked it (being an old dirtbiker). Thought it might be difficult or impossible with the reverse throttle limit switch. Anyone have any details or experience with this?

You can put a twist throttle on but it might get a little dangerous. Say you get in a jam or anything and you grab the bars and are being thrown backwards or hanging off or anything, with the twist you will go to full throttle and stay there, on a polaris their is no clutch to pull in or foot shifter to pop into neutral or be limited to the gear you happen to be in at the time, now you could put a twist that spun forward.

i have been using twist grips on all my quads since my 85 quadracer and i now have one on my 400 xplorer. hell even my wife runs on on her trail blazer. it is a lot less tiring on 3/4 hour ride . if you get into trouble, that is what the kill button is there for.

Hey, does your 400 Explorer have the reverse throttle limit switch? If so does it still work with the twist throttle? Where did you get your parts? Is it just a universal twist throttle conversion?
I agree the twist creates less fatigue. A few times lately I have accidently throttled up with my leg when leaning way forward on a very steep grade. This could flip you if the throttle was bumped at just the wrong time.
Thanks for your input.

personally i dont like twist throttles, because if you are going to stay up to speed for any period of time its anooying to have to flick your havd fast to get your wrist straight, and that also annoying going into a turn, whatever floats your boat
