Which Clutch kit/springs?
#1
Which clutch kit would I need for Aggressive rail riding, wheelies, and fast kinda stuff. I was thinking an Ag clutch kit, but I do some low-end stuff, and want some low-end power. Is this a good choice, or should I make my own kit? If so, which helix, weights, and springs.

A common misconception I see in here is that people think there is one magical clutch kit for this or that, when in fact that is absolutly wrong. These kits that are sold by HPD/RCR are not 100% guaranteed to give you a specified amount of performance. The have been developed to give the best all around performance, given certain motor modifications, and often require some tweaking.
Two equally modified bikes may not perform equally as well with the same clutch kit in them. One might require more tweaking than the other. You have to clutch YOUR bike to ITS powerband. Main problem with the CVT is that any mods that alter the motors performance, in most cases require different clutching. Therefor clutching can become expensive. Over three years I've probably spent well over $500 in clutching alone, making changes everytime I added porting, pipe, carb, ect.
The best thing you can do with just the HPD trail pipe is probably swap in a plain OR orange spring and adjust the secondary to suit YOUR riding style. The OE 55gm weights should suffuce for now. Hell I use the OE 55gm's with my race mod motor

AZ400L,
Could you give a quick rundown on what the different settings in the secondary clutch will provide? I have the HPD roller secondary with the violet secondary spring, and a white primary in my Xplorer 400. That is what HPD/RCR recommended, and I just stuck it there and left it. What are the pros and cons of more/less tension on that spring? Thanks,
Waylan
