A properly modified Scrambler 400 will easily spank a stock DS650 or Raptor. FWP sets up their races into different classes.
The Modified Banshees get beat on occasion, but not very often. They have to race everything from quads with 150HP snow mobile motors to quads with GSXR1100 crotch rocket motors, and the Banshees still do very well.
The next class down is the Raptor Class. This includes all other sport Bikes including Scramblers, DS 650s and anyone else that thinks they have a chance. There are two Scramblers out there that belong to Brad Pellet (Pellets High Perfomance). In this class, the finish 1 & 2 everytime I have seen them race... and they are not racing stock DS650s or Raptors. This drag strip is only 100 Yards. If it were longer, I am sure the highly modified 650s and raptors would probably come back. They are running 14:1 compression on racing fuel with many mods with paddles form and back. They also have nitrous if needed.
So, the answer to your question is, without question, Yes. A modified Scrambler, if set up right will out run a stock Raptor or DS650 and even a stock banshee. But, modify the Banshee and there is not too much that will hang with it.

I have the HPD trail set up, pipe, 12:1 head & trail porting, 39mm carb. I raced my friends Banshee w/ open air box & high compression head on a smooth dirt road twice. Both times we were exactly tied until he wound out his 6th gear. I was very happy to stay w/ him to that point. I also raced my other friend DS twice on a little looser smooth flat & beat him quite a bit both times. I haven't raced my friend modified 250R but I think it runs about as good as my other friend Banshee I mentioned so I think we would be tied. For a 4x4 thats great I think & I dont even have the race porting & race pipe!

Hi i have a 2001 Polaris Scrambler 400 2x4 with around 83 HP that has 470 Big Bore kit on it and a HPD Race pipe with 15:1 head and 44mm carb this bike will out run any stock four wheeler and i have out run 250R that where highy modified, i have dusted Quadzilla and banshees with pipes. Now theres not much out there that will hang with a fully modified banshee but i can give them a run for there money. My bike is setup for drag racing it has a 5500 rpm stall in the clutches and comes off the line like a bat out of H@!! Please email for pictures will@gwynelectric.com
I have about $2900.00 in my motor and clutches so (ATV)$4600 + $2900=$7500.00 for a killer ride.
