As a Polaris dealer I can tell you there is not 25 to 30 % margin on even the Sportsman 500 and it has the highest margin of any quad out there. The price of $6200 which began this topic is indeed a good price due to the limited availability of the yellow. If you guys knew what it cost to ship these machines, assemble them, provide brochures (approx $1.25 each), pay certified person to predeliver and perform Polaris training course when unit is picked up you would see that the single digit profit margin these things offer is not exactly hitting the jackpot when you sale one for $6200

I paid 6000.oo for my 99 sp500 and when I bought my sons 2000 trailboss in december they were asking 6200.oo for the 2000 sp500. No prep or shipping just 8.5% sales tax

Sorry to break it to you guys but you can buy canadian polaris products if you live in the states. You won,t pay any taxs also but it,s a hell of a drive from almost anywhere to canada, hell wy not buy mine there soon for sale, there is no pst but you will pay gst but you get that back from the government and that feels real good .

I beleive there is a tremendous profit the dealers make on these quads.I paid 6250 for my 99 500cc Sportsman.I was at my local Auto parts store getting a filter for my quad and made a comment to the salesman about how nice it was to get an aftermarket filter for my Sportsman. In our conversation,I found out that he had bought two 2000 model Sportsmans from the same dealership and the SAME salesman for 5400 hundred apiece.Man was I pissed.I have also heard of others buying the Sportsman for 5400 hundred.Sure makes ya wonder?====BILL

How does the old saying go ...

Never ask the guy seated beside you on the plane what he paid for his ticket ... you don't want to know!
