Just about to put on my HPD Trail Pipe I got a little while back. My question is about jetting, I want to get your opinion so I dont have to do alot of guess and checking. I have a 99xplor 400, and currently have a K&N air filter, and adding air box mod and HPD Trail pipe. So I was wondering from the stock 210 what should I go to for main jet. Also should I got down from 35 to 30 for pilot jet. I will be ridding in temprs from 40-90 degrees also to let you know. So being one richer for the 40 temps is fine. Thanks

Muddy ,

The machine you own has the identical engine , carburetor , and airbox as the scramblers and sports .

Use the jets provided with the HpD pipe and you should be very close .

Will 260 be ok then for the pipe, air box, and k&n. That came with pipe but I have to factor in K&N and Air Box. Also, somone suggest to lean the pilot jet down to 30 from 35. That a good thing to do?

Hey Muddy, I don't know your experience level mechanically but I think if you can get your hands on the April issue of Dirt Wheels mag, you might find some answers or at least be more enlightened as to how and when to rejet. There's a prety good article in there towards the back of the mag about carbs and jetting. I'm not saying what they printed in there is law, but it gives a better understanding as to how, when, and why of jetting. If you can't find the issue, give me a holler and Icould possibly scan it for ya if ya interested.

I have all listed, but with a UNI filter on my 400 Scrambler, and I have a 30 pilot and a 260 Maun Jet. The needle clip is in the stock position.

For winter, I had a 270 main Jet, but it gets pretty hot here in texas.

I also had a 240 main from stock instead of a 230 from the factory.

you have to lean the pilot jet back to a 30 because it will be overly rich on the bottom and will bog bad.i ran the 260 with a uni filter but i didnt do the airbox mods.you need to run a6t least a 270 and run it and check your plug.make sure you dont go to lean.
