Knocking out a old sleeve from a cylinder?

Which model are you trying to remove a sleeve from ? Some sleeves can be removed , others must be machined out .

It's a 98 400L Sport cylinder.

That sleeve has to be machined out . The factory casts the sleeve into the cylinder .

What are you planning on building ?

I'm needing it resleeved for a project quad I'm about to start. I sold my 95 400 Sport which I had to put a new cylinder on because this one has a bad spot between the sleeve & the cylinder that was causing the piston to wear out quickly. I've heard that you could have the 400 cylinder milled to fit a 250r motor. My buddy has part of a motor which needs work, but I'm willing to put some $$ in it to get it right. And I was going to see how bad the actual cylinder is before I start to buy all the parts. We have a local shop that has done this type of thing before. He was telling me it was the most wicked thing he ever rode. So basically I'm going to put a little Polaris power in a Honda.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I don't know, there is something about pulling into a riding area with a quad that says 400r on the side that I like.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

I have heard of that conversion being done . I have even looked at the differwnt engines apart , it appears to a fairly easy conversion , as far as conversions go . I believe it is much simpler than using a pilot cylinder .

Your local shop can explain all the details. Enjoy your new motor.
