the 700 is the atv of the year right now..so we will see if polaris can hold honda off again this year.kawasakis 650 will never get atv of the year as the 660 grizz wont.polaris makes a hell of an atv now.i own a new grizz but i have always owned polaris but i cant seem to have an dealer closer than 2 hour drive.when i get a close dealer...ill be back.

3TV, You make very valid points. If you would read my post more carefully I never told him to buy a Polaris because it wins pulls. I merely stated that it can outpull a rubicon. If you buy an atv you need to buy what suits your needs best because in my opion no one machine is BETTER than the other. Only more suited to ones needs and likes. By the way my Sp400 won the 400, 500, and powder puff class today, and got third in the 350cc and up 2wd class. Not too shabby I think. Had alot to do with tires and track position today, but still extremely fun.

We are talking about utility quads here, am I correct? The last time I checked, they are used for work, which includes pulling. I didn't buy a utility to race, I bought it to pull my deer out of the woods, or the boulders from the creek, or the fallin trees in the trail, not to win a race, or to trail ride, I make my own trails with it. Some people make it sound like you should be able to pull a house off the foundation, and turn around and go 100mph too.

Hey Maniac needs to be turned loose on a 400 2stroke 4x4 and see what he has to say.

I think the new Rincon has big pluses and big minuses.
.... Pluses are the styling, the IRS, low center of gravity and maybe the transmission.
...Minuses are no low range, drum brakes, no locking front diff, a pushrod low tech motor and maybe the transmission.
....There certainly are some contradictions here. It would seem that a SPORT/utility would have a higher tech motor, at least Overhead Cam, and better brakes, at least front discs.
....As a utility it will be lacking a locking front diff and especially a low range for rock crawling.
....While we're at it...Polaris 4x4 works great in the mud, but not downhill and not on slick rock.
....Weight is good for tug of war games, and nowhere else.
....The 660 Grizz is too narrow and needs some handling fixes in the front end, like more caster, to make it a true SPORT/Utility. We rolled ours 3 times and sold it, despite widening it with Douglas Wheels and Spidertrax tires.
.....I hope Suzuki gets access to the 650 Prarie V-twin and puts IRS on it. Then their new big bore would follow the Ozark, Eiger and Vinson as the best in their class. That 650 Tecate would be pretty cool too.

My take on the Honda auto's vs the Belt drive jobs ( any brand ) is this. We have three belt dive models in our fleet, of the three two of them have had the belt replaced twice for a total cost of $148.00, no labor and took around 2hr total to do. We have one Rubi in the fleet, it has had transmission problem once for a total cost of $425.00 and we had no Rubi for 7 days because there is no way I'm tearing into that thing. Oh and one other point worth noting, one of the two belt drive machines is a Prairie 650 which has many more miles than the other two ( including the Rubi ). The reason it has many more miles than the other two is because it is the one everyone fights over. In fact I'm to the point that if I have to ride the 4wd only Rubi, I will stay behind and not go.
Some one said it best in one of these posts if an atv is no fun to ride it don't matter how reliable it is, you wont ride it anyway. Take that for what it's worth but the only Honda I enjoy riding is the 400ex and it's a dam fine machine.
