Just wondering how long should a belt on a sp 700 last. Also what signs should I look for before replacing it. Do you guys carry a spare on extended trail rides? So far really enjoy the 700.
If you ask Polaris, a life time ya, right. You can measure across the top, not sure what it should be, also hour classing from slipping or on mine it started engaging at a hight rpm.
A belt will wear over a long period of time. It gets narrower and may stretch. However, it can last a "lifetime". You won't get the best performance out of an old belt but it will still drive the vehicle at satisfactory performance.
it realy depends on your riding habits, the use of low gear on hills helps also especially when you're going slow or when you're hauling something heavy ect. a clucth kit helps alot also, it puts more tension on the belt so you wont have to use low as much..
I have owned seven polaris's the 2 I have now 95 Scrambler and a new 800. If you want the best performance replace the belt once a Year. Even if it is not bad. Your top end speed will drop if you dont. Keep the old belt or a spar.
