I've got a 99 Magnum 500 and a 99 Sportsman 500 and the Owner's Manuals for the two are identical. It's some generic owner's manual that covers a number of 99 ATVs. My question is whether anyone who owns a 99 Magnum can check if their owner's manual may be more specific to their Magnum. These generic manuals don't even mention the magnum and show absolutely no drawings for the Magnum. Strikes me as very odd and am wondering if dealer gave me the wrong book when this thing was originally purchased. I know the owners' manual isn't good for much, but would still like to know if anyone has seen one that actually references the 99 Magnum.

Nope the dealer gave you the right book, the books a general guide for changing oil and other items... I have a 2001 and a 2002 magnum 500 and i have manuals for both of them that shows how everything is put together.....you can still get a manual for the 2000 model; which is the same as yours......go to polarisindustries.com then ATV's then tech center then part manuals......there that should help........

 

by the way have you had any problems with your magnum???? i really havent......

 

Thanks for the information about the manual. So far, no problems at all with the Magnum. Great machine. We don't ride it very hard though; I'm not jumping it off of cliffs and such. Just farm and yard type work and some chasing around pastures once in awhile.

I've only had a couple of problems with my 2000 mag500..after about 2,500 miles the rear clutch went out....and then at about 4,000 miles the 4x4 quit working so i had to replace the speedometer head..180bucks!!!!...thats just about all the problems...i love the machine..and it loves mud!!!!
