I am still having trouble with my reverse engaging. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't. I have replaced/adjusted everything I can think of, shy of tearing apart the tranny, and replacing the belt. Could the belt be slipping? It looks ok. However, when I first started noticing my reverse wasn't working right, I had just got stuck and gave my scrammy a little bit of hell. Could it be the belt?

You'll know it's the belt when you smell it. The engine will rev, the bike won't move, and the smell of burnt rubber will be obvious. If your linkage is adjusted correctly and you feel it lock in to place when you pull back on the shifter, maybe there is a wiring problem in the reverse override.

I can feel it lock into gear - EVERYTIME. I have disabled the override as well and it didn't help. I replaced the clutch buttons and even bought new linkage (for grins). I just can't figure it out. Just thought maybe the belt might have stretched or something. I hope it isn't in the tranny.

If it goes forward but not backward, is fully engaged, and the override is not stopping it, you got yourself a tranny problem.

I've found some of the most knowlegable folks spend a lot of time at atvnation.com they come here also but not as often.
