I don't think i've ever heard of a bomb ds650 axle bending or breaking. I keep hearing of people catching pretty big air with no problems.

I've got friends with DS's and the stock axle is one of their complaints. Seems that someone even went so far as to test the Rockwell hardness against a 400EX and it came up much softer.

I'm interested to see how the Cannondale Axle will hold up. At first look, it's a very heavy duty unit, much more thick than most stock axles. I've seen one bent axle, but that guy tagged a tree at light speed and ended his riding day....

Cannondale certainly have VERY STRONG axles. I've had some crappy landings, casing a triple that bent my handle bars a-arm and sprained my wrists, and I've landed on someone causing me to two wheel off the side of this jump resulting in the cartwheeling of my quad, and my axle is still ok. When I cartwheeled my quad a few times, I broke my front brake line, broke my nose, bent my nerfs, bent my front wheel all to hell, bent my handle bars BADLY, and I thought I bent my axle but it turns out that it was just the rear wheel that was bent. I go to different tracks atleast 2 times a week and sometimes more if I can, and my axle is still ok.

MXDale, that sure sounds like a good testament for durability.hehe. Did you polish your own frame, or pay someone? How long, or how much. I noticed a nice one on Ebay with the polished frame....SWWWWWEEETT!!
