SP400 vs. SP500 H.O
#1
I have a 2002 sportsman 400, and my friend has a 2002 sportsman 500 h.o, and we went at it and had a pullin contest in low range, and it ended up being dead even, he coudlnt pull me, and i couldnt pull him, we just both spun out in 4x4. the only thing different is that in high range he had better take off, but in the long end i ended up catching up to the same speed. so why would you spend an extra 500 dollars for somethin that has a better take off speed? He even admitted the 400 was impressive, cause he thought he would kick my *** and he didnt even come close to doing it. so what is wrong with the picture?

You can take a 400 sportsmen change the secondary clutch setting in side to 1to1 and have EBS.Put a heelclicker clutch kit in the 400 with that setting and you will have one pulling top gun machine.I entired a sled pull the other week with my 400 .The track was 250 feet long. I pulled it 238feet at 5800Lbs by the end of the track. Stock setting for your none EBS system is 2to2. If you change to 1to1 you'll have down shifting with out spending the extra money on EBS.

LOL, Its about time someone asked me that. Actually we have another atv too thats not in my sig, thats an 1986 Yamaha Moto4 225cc with Mud Sharks and snorkel. Its broken and needs tranny work but the motor still runs.
We also have an ATV 110 too be that dont run(It could be fixed).
We started out with that ATC for deer hunting, then a few years later we got that Yamaha for deer hunting and doing work around the farm. This was like around 1991-1992. Rode the yamaha for some time then it needed alot of work, sat around in the pole building for about two years. My mom finally took it in a three years ago and got it fixed. I was hooked and rode it all the time.
Then last summer my uncle that I never knew passed away and he bought a brand new Recon just before he pass on. So we got that from him.
Then this spring my dad wanted to get a new ATV so my mom and I can all go riding. Thus the Sportsman 400 (which I ride) .
Then this summer the old yamaha went out and my Dad wanted something for my mom(which my dad rides) and something around $4000, and IRS. Thus the Arctic Cat 300 4x4.
I guess we just like trying differante things my dad actually wanted a Bombardier(we are Ski-Doo snowmobile lovers) but they are too pricey.
All ATVs are differante and do some things better, than others. They all have their strong points.
