Man, you guys have me thinking again. This is the second starter bendix I put in it this summer! The design is just plain stupid I feel. It is on the bottom, so it's the first thing that gets wet when you drive in deep water. Not sealed up very well either. I always remove the drain plug after getting it wet, but so far it hasn't helped much. As much as it costs me to keep a starter going I might as well get rid of it. When it goes out again...it's gone for good.

Bubba, I will keep you in mind for porting.

2manytoys, the FMF muffler will work on your HPD T-blazer pipe and will quiet it down alittle. I feel it sounds very cool and it is spark arrested so you will be OK in the eyes of the park ranger.

Modquad....zoom zoom....can't wait it's been a long time!!

Modquad

What is the 4800mf 50v. capacitor used for? I am guessing it has to do with running the electric controls on the handlebar?

Turns out my dealer hasn't got to putting in a new bendix in the start yet so I told him not too. Going to get rid of it, battery and all. I will be ordering the block-off kit from HPD come Monday morning. What do I need to do to make this sucessful?

Dont forget the cap is a polarized capacitor. Gotta have the + and - marked for proper hook up.Bubba

Hey Adam, the capacitor is to take the place of the battery. Like Bubba posted, it's polarized just like a battery. Only 2 oz of wt. That's even better than my thin film battery's 2.5 lbs. In all fairness, the thin film unit lasted 2 years of really hard woods rippin'.

I see....shouldn't be that hard to do. Pulling the rope will just have to become part of life now...just like on a sled. Thanks for the ideas.

remove the starter if you don't mind,it is 1 of the first move to do when modded, those engines are very friendly easy-to-start when well tuned ,one pull and you're gone,i don't have starter and battery for long time now...
