Does it fit?
Yes.
How hard to change?
Remove old tranny and bolt in place.
How does it cost?
It aint cheap $1500 - 2000.
The hardest parts are modifing the airbox and making a shifter work. The cost can vary depending on which parts you use and your fab skills. My Scrambler has the Xplorer tranny in it and it looks like it came from the factory.

You also have to change the shifter of course and the rods and I think there are some slight modifications to the electrics relating to the neutral/reverse switch on the transmission. It is a real shame Polaris didn't include the low speed from the factory, at least as an option. Old Xplorer transmissions are impossible to find, I've tried, and a new one cost nearly as much as I paid for my used Scrambler itself.

Trans came from dealer. Do not remember the exact cost. Close to a grand, I think. Top speed is the same in high. Not sure about top speed in low. Less than 30 with the 25's. Maybe 35 with the 28's. Go ahead and try to blow up the 500. It is hard to get the motor to rev that high stock. You will not hurt it holding it wide open in low. Been there done that.
