Floodrunner,
The reason the turn circle increases is because the steering stops are on the steering column and not on the strut. If they were on the strut then you could turn the handlebars a little more to regain the lost rotation of the strut. Yours may appear to have the same radius as before but it cannot be.
Next week I will start tweaking mine to find the compromise.

Hmmm…. now that I think about it from your perspective you’re right. I stand corrected, thanks. The axis for the strut is the same but the longer arm makes the tie rod end travel in a larger diameter circle around the axis resulting in less steering turn at the “stops.” I suppose the “easy” way to counteract this would be to modify the stops. One could cut off the stock stops and drill a hole through the center of where they mounted. Then using the stock stops or another piece of metal rod in a similar diameter and length, drill and tap a hole off-center in one end. Bolt the new stop through the hole in the mount and now you have an eccentric adjustable steering stop.

In my case though, with lift kits on and the more prominent possibility of CV damage at full steering lock, I’ll be leaving mine the way it is. The decrease in turning radius wasn’t that apparent.

Floodrunner,
I like your idea of moving the existing stops or as you suggested making them adjustable. I'll have to look into this a little more.
Thanks,

atving,
Did you ever get any of those steering components made that ease the effort of steering. If so, how much would you charge for a set?

Interesting you found this 10yr old thread. I believe Greg has made this kit avail
on his Quadovator site. He has the reputation of some good mods on here. I could
be wrong, but I thought that was him. Check it out and let us know, thanks!

Yup thats him, try to email or call him. It maybe that is a custom made part which I do remember was on his site at one time, not sure about any pics, but again I think it was a custom item.
